Sports Injury Rehab
Despite stretching, wearing the proper equipment, and engaging in appropriate training, sports injuries happen to the best of us. Whether you’re playing in a championship tournament or a weekend pickup game, don’t try to play hurt. If you become injured, stop playing immediately and seek medical advice. Continuing to play while injured can cause significant, irreparable harm down the road if you’re not careful.
From the slightest sprain to a major dislocation, sports injuries are serious and almost always require medical diagnosis and treatment. The most common sports injuries we see include:
- Knee injuries
- Fractures and disclocations
- Shin splints
- Strains and sprains
- Swollen muscles
- Tennis or Golfer’s elbow
- Joint injuries
- Rotator cuff & shoulder injuries
The first step in treating your injury is receiving a medical diagnosis from an experienced professional like our chiropractors. The treatment and prognosis of your sports injury will vary depending on the severity of your pain and the extent of the injury itself. Sports injury rehab usually starts with rest, ice, compression, and elevation of the affected area(s). Other sports injury rehab treatments recommended by our chiropractors at Premier Chiropractic Solutions may include chiropractic care, pain relievers and other medications, physical therapy and rehabilitation, or even surgery.
Injury Prevention
Premier Chiropractic Solutions will work with athletes to identify and address biomechanical issues, muscle imbalances, and/or improper movement patterns that could lead to potential injuries. We’ll provide corrective exercises and advice on proper body mechanics to help prevent future injuries. We’ll also address musculoskeletal misalignments or joint dysfunctions that could contribute to sports-related injuries.
Rehabilitation
We use manual adjustments and other therapeutic techniques to alleviate the pain associated with sports-related injuries. These techniques and adjustments are useful for athletes trying to avoid pharmaceutical paint management options. Our sports injury rehab includes addressing soft-tissue injuries, including muscle strains and ligament sprains. We’ll use soft tissue manipulation and other modalities to promote healing.
